Exploring Sensory Processing
Course objectives:
- Understanding of the senses, both internal and external
- Understanding how sensory processing disorders affect children
- Understanding the behaviour in its current context for example, is it sensory?
- Introduction to sensory play activities for children with sensory processing issues
- How to be a responsive practitioner
- The importance of promoting self-regulation
- Considering and adapting the physical environment
- Appropriate use of aids and equipment
- Liaising with multi-disciplinary teams to support children
