Making Sense of ADHD in the Early Years
- Understanding what Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is and isn’t
- A knowledge of up to date research, diagnostic criteria, comorbidities, executive functioning impairments and emotional dysregulation
- Understanding the different presentations of ADHD, including gender
- Developing strategies to support children in early years settings including, support for executive functioning, session planning and structure, communication, environment and sensory needs
- Understanding the importance of providing children with support required for emotional regulation
- Providing support and signposting to parents and carers on support systems/resources available for children with ADHD
