Target Audience
This course is for all early years practitioners.
Purpose of Course
This course will increase the practitioner’s skills and understanding of the importance of creating an environment that facilitates positive behaviour, have an increased understanding of children’s behaviour within the context of their setting and be able to identify strategies to support children when dealing with emotional and challenging behaviour of children aged 0-4 years.
Course Learning Outcomes will include
- An increased knowledge of the factors that influence children’s behaviour (e.g. environment, boundaries, routines and expectations, transitions, group composition, age and stage, gender, attachment, autonomy, competence, resilience, ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences/trauma)
- An increased confidence in their role in promoting positive behaviour (e.g. responding to social-emotional challenges, promotion, prevention and external control strategies, working in partnership with parents/carers)
- How to create an action plan to improve individual practice/practice of the setting
- How to reflect on and contribute to enhancing the behaviour management policy and practice of the setting
- Provide detail of the Childcare Partnership Website and Family Support NI website and how these can be used as valuable sources of support and information.
- An understanding of the impact COVID-19 may have on children's behaviour.
